Religion

Thrown my own experiences, I believe that in someways religion can be forced. Throughout society religion has tried to keep up with the ways of society and the status quo. I believe that sometimes religion is forced upon people instead of letting people openly come to the religion. I was at the beach last summer and some people were outside on the sidewalk on the strip, and they were holding up signs saying things that would scare people into a religion. That is the wrong way to bring people in and it was inappropriate. Church's can change the way that preacher preaches on Sunday by vote of the board. If it is a board of old age then the church service will stick to the old ways. Through the experience of my own church, I believe that they keep to the status quo by following the board members choice. If the board begins to have young members voted in, then the service will be more contemporary like many church's have become these days. My church has switched back and forth between themes of service many times. This is an example of my own experience of status quo.

  1. I completely agree with your statement about the people holding up fearful signs on the sidewalk. That is an inappropriate way to leer people into their faith. I think it should be a personal experience, one that might take time. Unlike being told what to believe, one should choose what they believe in.

  2. I agree with you and Abby about the inappropriateness of church members holding up signs to scare you into joining the church. I feel that when I see those crazy signs it makes me want to stay away from that church.
