Discussion 3

The "ideal" relationship between anthropologists and the key informants is when the informants provide regular information to the anthropologist to help them blend in among the population.
There are a few problems with obtaining these relationships though. An anthropologist could say or do something that will offend the informants without knowing or they may get an informant that is all about the money and give them wrong information on what the culture is all about. You have to be able to know what you are being told is the real deal. Friendship is very important for an anthropologist to have with the informants. It makes it easier to get information from the informant and makes it easier for the populous to accept you into their culture and allow you to participate in their rituals. However it could make it to where the informant will tell the anthropologist what he wants to hear to either make the anthropologist happy or for the anthropologist give him something nice.
